RIO RANCHO, N.M. -- Cibola running back David Vargas ran wild Friday night, carrying the Cougars to a comeback win over Cleveland in the opening of the Storm's new stadium.
Vargas rained on the Storm's parade with TD runs of 59, 31 and 65 yards in a 31-14 victory over Cleveland.
Cibola had trailed early 14-7 before Vargas kick-started the Cougars.
He finished with nearly 260 yards, a career high.
Cleveland still held a 14-10 advantage at halftime and it could have been more but for a missed field goal on the half's final play.
Cleveland got two touchdowns from Iseha Conklin, but the Storm could muster no offense in the second half as Cibola dominated after the break.
LAS CRUCES 50, GADSDEN 14
The Bulldawgs rolled up more than 500 yards of total offense and scored on seven of their eight possessions to win their fourth consecutive game.
Jeremy Buurma was near-perfect at quarterback, completing 12-of-13 passes and Xavier Hall piled up more than 100 yards on just 12 carries while adding four TD totes.
Las Cruces has score 175 points during their winning streak.
VALLEY 41, ALBUQUERQUE HIGH 13
Jerry Goodyear helped the Viking roll to an easy victory over the Bulldogs.
The quarterback chucked five touchdown passes and ran for another one. Two of those went to Mario Flores, the first being a 63-yard catch and run.
Goodyear's first score came midway through the first quarter on a 2-yard sneak on fourth down.
LA CUEVA 76, SANTA FE 0
The second-ranked Bears allowed just three yards of total offense to the winless Demons.
Leland Sedberry carried the load offensively for La Cueva, scoring three times in the first quarter. Sedberry was playing place of star back Ronnie Daniels, who was among a number of normal starters who never saw the field.
The Bears also had three interceptions.
CAPITAL 42, ESPAÑOLA VALLEY 13
Kevin Morales busted out a career day for the Jaguars against their nearby rivals to the north, gaining more than 200 yards with four TDS.
Capital quarterback Beau Graham also had a good night, topping 100 yards.
The Jaguars forced four Sundevils' turnovers in the rout.
