Seven weeks into the regular season and still ten teams with the hopes of hoisting the championship trophy in Laramie.
Cheyenne East appears out, sitting at the bottom of the heap but their lone victory came at the expense of an otherwise unbeaten Central team. Home field advantage is out the window with Sheridan, Kelly Walsh, Gillette and Green River all losing at home this season. Rock Springs lost to one Cheyenne team 52-0 for their homecoming then turned around and traveled to the capitol city to beat the other Cheyenne team 20-0. Kelly Walsh went into Sheridan and whipped the Broncs but later lost at home to a winless Tigers team. Laramie holds tie breaker victories over both Rock Springs and Evanston.
Needless to say the final two weeks of the regular season are going to be full of excitement with no clear cut favorite having emerged just yet. This next to final week of the season showcases a match-up that will establish the number one seed for the playoffs as Central travels to Sheridan in a game featuring the two top-ranked teams both holding 6-1 records. An inside track to the sixth place finish is the game between Natrona and Rock Springs with the winner being pretty comfortable and the loser backed up against the wall.
Gillette ends the season on the road against Kelly Walsh and then Green River. If the Camels can sweep they probably wrap up the third seed, if they get swept they may fall to fifth and travel in the first round. Kelly Walsh has essentially the same scenario with huge games against Gillette and Central still remaining but have already lost to Green River so they will need some help to surpass the Wolves in the standings.
In a battle for survival, Evanston travels to Cheyenne to play East this week and then returns home for what may be a "winner moves on/ loser is done" game against Rock Springs in the final week.
Predictions
The team that walks off the field in Sheridan Friday evening with a victory is in the driver's seat and goes into the playoffs with a ton of momentum. The loser of the East vs. Evanston game is in a lot of trouble and may not make the playoffs. No, these are not predictions and that is for good reason. The 2009 4A football division in Wyoming is way too balanced to believe I can see how this terrific season is going to end so I do not dare to even attempt!

I really enjoy your site and am looking forward to your review of 2A and 1A football also!
