Football Rankings Remix - Week 7

By Varun Sriram

There continues to be no changes in the top spots of the CoachesAid.com football rankings, as the #1 ranked teams in all five classifications recorded easy victories over the weekend.

In Class AA, #1 Capital topped #8 Billings West in a rematch of last year's state championship game, 22-8.  Capital extended its Class AA record winning streak to 28 with the victory.  The Bruins are the only undefeated team left in the league.  C.M. Russell stayed at #2, with a 41-12 win against #7 Billings Skyview.  The rest of the top five also remained the same, with #3 Helena, #4 Glacier and #5 Sentinel all recording easy wins.

In Class A, top-ranked Billings Central Catholic got a break from playing teams ranked in the top five, shutting out unranked Hardin 49-0.  The Rams are the only unbeaten team in Class A.  #2 Laurel, #3 Frenchtown, and #4 Custer County all held their spots with wins.  The three one-loss teams have something in common - their only defeat has come at the hands of Billings Central.  Frenchtown pushed Beaverhead County out of the top five, defeating the Beavers 34-21.  Polson took their spot with a 43-20 win at Columbia Falls.

In Class B, #1 Huntley Project gave up its first points of the season, but still won easily.  The Red Devils had shut out their first five opponents this year, but allowed 6 points in a 42-6 win over Shepherd. The top ten stayed the same, as #2 Broadwater, #3 Fairfield, and #4 Townsend all remained undefeated.

In Class C 8-man, #1 Wibaux dominated a top five showdown with Carter County, winning 42-6.  The loss dropped the Bulldogs from #4 to #6.  #2 Drummond, #3 Centerville, and #4 Sheridan all stayed undefeated.  Centerville won by forfeit against North Toole County.  Fort Benton continued to climb in the rankings, grabbing the #5 spot with a 53-8 win over previously ranked Power/Dutton-Brady.

In Class C 6-man, #1 Big Sandy held on to the top spot and remained undefeated, winning a showdown with Great Falls Central Catholic, 58-20.

Here's how the polls look entering this week.  Last week's rankings are listed in parentheses. An asterisk next to a team's record means all scores have not been reported.
