Boys Golf
Class 4-A State Tournament, Friday & Saturday
The state tournament will be held at Davenport Country Club in Pleasant Valley on Friday and Saturday.
Cross Country
CIML Central Conference Invitational, Thursday, October 15
The meet will be held in Indianola at Pickard Park. Some of the participating schools are: Ankeny, Dowling Catholic, Indianola, Johnston, Southeast Polk and Urbandale.
CIML Iowa Conference Invitational, Thursday, October 15
The meet will be held in Waukee at Centennial Park. Participating schools include: Ames, Fort Dodge, Marshalltown, Mason City, Valley (West Des Moines) and Waukee.
CIML Metro Conference Cross Country Invitational, Tuesday
The meet will be held at Ewing Park in Des Moines. Some of the participating schools are: Des Moines East, Des Moines Hoover, Des Moines Lincoln, Des Moines North, Ottumwa and Des Moines Roosevelt.
Mississippi Valley Conference Invitational, Thursday
The invitational is hosted by Iowa City High. Participating schools include: Cedar Falls, Cedar Rapids Prairie, Iowa City High, Iowa City West and Linn-Mar (Marion).
Football
Carroll at Ballard (Huxley), Friday
#6 Ballard (Huxley) hosts Friday’s game against #2 Carroll. This is one of the hottest games in “Battle of the Top Ten” this week in class 3-A. Both teams are undefeated for the regular season.
Centerville at Grinnell, Friday
Another of one the “Battle of the Top Ten” games to watch is #4 Centerville at #7 Grinnell in class 3-A. Both teams are undefeated for the regular season. Who will remain undefeated and will the results of the game help to remix the class 3-A rankings?
Des Moines Roosevelt at Des Moines East, Friday
One of the state’s biggest rival match-ups meets on Friday at East High School stadium. East is 3-3 for the overall regular season and Roosevelt is 1-5. Who will go away from the game with bragging rights for the next year?
Dowling at Urbandale, Friday
The #9 Urbandale J-Hawks face #1 Dowling Catholic Maroons on Friday. Dowling is 6-0 for the regular season and Urbandale is 5-1, after losing to Ankeny last Friday.
Remsen-Union at St. Mary’s (Remsen), Friday
On Friday #10 ranked St. Mary’s (Remsen) is host to Remsen-Union. This is another great rival game for the week. #10 ranked St. Mary’s is 6-0 overall for the regular season and Remsen-Union is 5-1. It is not only a city rivalry but could the result of the game remix the Eight-Player rankings and will St. Mary’s remain undefeated?
Western Christian Hull at Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley, Friday
Class 2-A #7 Western Christian Hull faces #6 Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley in another one of the hottest games in the “Battle of the Top Ten” for this week. Both teams go into the season undefeated in the overall regular season. Who will remain undefeated and will the results cause a remix for the class 2-A rankings?
